Walking on Dartmoor brings you to a wild, open place with high granite rocks, wide green moorland, and deep valleys. The weather changes fast, turning bright sun into thick mist or rain in minutes. You feel total freedom here as you walk past old stone ruins and wild ponies. The ground under your feet is often soft, wet peat and thick heather and there are boggy areas and steep hills. Quiet fills the air and the ancient stones and lonely tors make you feel the deep history of the land.

Walkham Valley
A fairly easy walk that starts by the River Walkham and heads towards Daveytown, providing great views of Vixen Tor and Pew Tor. You soon emerge on to moorland to join the disused railway line around Swell Tor Quarry and Kings Tor.
Sharpitor and Crazywell
This is a great walk providing wild moor views. From the high vantage point of Sharpitor, descend through a pine forest to join the Devonport Leat. The route then heads east over Leather Tor Bridge and along well-defined tracks before striking off over the moor to visit Crazy Well Pool.
